Tafadzwa ShakaRa Mbandaka is the son of renowned Afrikan Centred Education Consultant, Bro. Ldr. Mbandaka and is an experienced multi-faceted performer, writer, workshop facilitator & Educator. His experience in ACE began as a child. A proud product of an Afrikan Centred Saturday School, he returned to become a teacher at the Alkebu-Lan Academy of Excellence since its inception in 2007, where specialises in teaching English Language & Communication and Performing Arts. He engages in teaching and consultancy with the Maat Academy home schoolers collective, providing assistance and tuition in the same subjects.
Both individually and as a member of the Best Kept Secret Spoken Word Collective (BKS), ShakaRa has a vast experience in using art as a tool of Education in a myriad of fields. He has travelled internationally doing work in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Youth Centres and projects (including Starlight Music Academy & Youth Scene) performing as well as running workshops and courses in Cultural Awareness, Political Education and Social Responsibility in relation to arts and language. ShakaRa’s studies have taken him into the field of psychology; as well as Black Studies as a student of The Black History Man – Robin Walker, arguably the most prolific Black Historian in the UK. He is a regularly columnist for the Whirlwind Newspaper and the www.thebritishblacklist.com. He is world renowned as a powerful and purposeful speaker and writer, able to breakdown and address a complex issues with effortless simplicity. In 2016 ShakaRa made a decisive step in bringing his varied experience to bare, with the founding of The Medukation Institute – Establishing the need as well as methods for developing and instituting Afrikan Centred Education.
